Konpeito is a free improvisation ensemble founded by percussionist Mika Takehara and bandoneonist Mikael Augustsson, focused on exploring a world of virtuosity and experimental improvisations. With close and intense interplay at its core, the group creates music that crosses genre boundaries. The ensemble is open to welcoming other musicians for exciting musical collaborations, and their performances feature a dynamic mix of acoustic and electronic instruments. Konpeito has previously collaborated with several prominent guest musicians, including electronic musician and composer Lisa Nordström, violinist Klara Hellgren, pianist and electronic musician Maria Rostotski, bassist Maurits Agnes, and visual artist Lena Rammi. The group has performed at venues such as Teater Giljotin, Cirkus, Malmö Sommarscen – Pildammsteatern, S:t Eskils Church, and Ateljé Anders Wallin, among others. Mika Takehara (percussion) draws on her background in Japanese art music, classical music, and cross-genre theatrical repertoire, which brings a unique and memorable depth to her improvisations, with each performance being a one-of-a-kind experience. Mikael Augustsson (bandoneon and accordion) is a musician who surprises with his breadth of genres and freedom of expression. Musical traditions from all over the world are mixed and spiced with his personal and innovative touch.
